HITLER'S GERMAN REFUGEES

They were among the 250,000 German refugees, evacuated to Denmark on Hitler’s command at the end of World War II. Now the four former refugee children look back at the dangerous escape and their stay in Denmark. They all have a special bond to the refugee camp in Oksbol – a town that during 1945 became the fifth largest city in Denmark. The documentary also tells the story of the tragedy in Skjern that took place only hours before the liberation, including footage never before shown on television.

The film has been funded by DR, Dronning Margrethe & Prins Henriks Fond, Aage og Johanne Louis Hansens Fond, Augustinus Fonden, Knud Højgaards Fond, Michael Jebsens Fond and Traugott Møllers Fond.
