A pandemic is sweeping the Earth. Borders are drawn around us, isolating us from one another. At the same time, we are connected more than ever through our lived human experiences. In ‘Connections – No One Is an Island’ you are invited to transcend borders, to process the experience together with others and look ahead.

Our interactive film is played together with others in an audience group. It is a global journey through the Corona era. We have recorded more than 300 isolation stories, together with co-creators from all over the world. They are intimate windows into human life and how people change over time from March 2020 until New Year’s Eve. In each screening session you see 12 video clips. The story forms as a result of the group’s responses to the stories. Each group goes on its own unique journey through emotional stages of the pandemic.

Connections is an interactive web-documentary, directed by Suvi Andrea Helminen, but co-created with citizens all over the world. The project is funded by The Danish Film Institute, The Nordic Culture Fund, The West Danish Film Fund, The Danish Art Foundation and AVEK. .

You may join the Connections online experience here: No one is an Island. In 2023 og 2024 Connections will tour on high schools and “efterskoler” in Denmark in cooperation with schools in the South and Salaam Film Festival.
