THE CLIMATE WARRIORS

In "The Climate Warriors," we embark on a journey to the Greenland ice sheet. With us are to Danish researchers, Dorthe Dahl-Jensen and Jørgen Peder Steffensen, who will take us 2.5 km into the ice, delving 100,000 years back in time to uncover insights that can inform our present and future. The couple is at the forefront of predicting future climate patterns through the drilling of ice cores in Greenland—a technology that serves as a critical foundation for the UN's climate reports and forecasts. Accompanying them is Meg Harlan, a young student conducting vital measurements for her ice core research project at the University of Copenhagen.

The Greenland drilling project aims to assess, among other things, the risk of flooding in Copenhagen and to reduce the current uncertainty margins in climate predictions. The researchers' work is pivotal in enhancing our preparedness and strategies for future climate resilience.

The project is funded by Politikens Fond and features two documentary episodes, each 10 minutes long, airing on TV2/Kosmopol's platforms in the spring of 2024. The episodes, supplemented by educational materials developed by Gyldendal Undervisning (for primary schools) and Systime (for secondary education), will be integrated into science education curricula at both primary (geography) and secondary school levels (geography and physical geography).
